एकता कपूर ने अपने फिल्म निर्माण की शुरुआत २००१ में आयी फिल्म क्यूंकि मैं झूठ नहीं बोलता से की जिसमे मशहूर अभिनेता गोविंदा ने काम किया था इसके बाद इन्होने कृष्णा कॉटेज ,और क्या कूल हैं हम जिसमे इनके भाई तुसार कपूर और रितेश देशमुख ने काम किया था इसके बाद एकता कपूर ने संजय गुप्ता की फिल्म शूटआउट एट लोखंडवाला में प्रोडूसर  के तौर पर काम किया इसके आलावा मिशन इम्पॉसिबल,इ एम् आई लेना है तो चुकाना पड़ेगा ,इसके बाद कई और फिल्मों में काम किया लव सेक्स धोखा,वन्स अपॉन ए टाइम इन मुंबई,क्या सुपर कूल हैं हम,द डर्टी पिक्चर,शूटआउट एट वडाला ,और मैं तेरा हीरो जैसी फिल्मों का निर्माण किया और अपने फ़िल्मी करियर को भी ऊंचाई की बुलंदियों तक पहुँचाया। 

कंट्रोवर्सी -

एकता कपूर ने हाल फिलहाल में एक वेब सीरीज का निर्माण किया है जिसका नाम है ट्रिपल एक्स जिसमे इन्होने भारतीय सेना की यूनिफार्म का इस्तेमाल गलत तरीके से दिखाया है और सेना और लोगों की भावनाओं को ठेश पहुँचाने की वजह से इनको लोगों के विरोध और गुस्से  के सामना करना पड़ रहा है।
